Elise had a wonderful second Christmas holiday. On Christmas Eve, we gathered both families over and Elise was able to open a few of her gifts. Grandma and grandpa gave her a toddler size Leapfrog laptop, which she loves! Daddy spoiled her rotten with her own personal Dora the Explorer quad runner! Watching her attempt to ride it was absolutely hilarious, and fortunately we got it all on video. I will do my best to post the video very soon.

Christmas day was super busy, as we did three separate gift openings, but Elise was a little trooper in ripping through all her presents! After each gift was unwrapped, she handed them to daddy and exclaimed, "open!". Once each gift was opened, her eyes would widen and she would purse her mouth and say, "owwwwww". It was super cute to see her reactions to each gift. She ended up with a ton of clothes and way too many fun toys, but her favorite gift by far was her pink tricycle, complete with her own own bell to ring, from grandma and grandpa. Her feet just barely reach the pedals, but she is so eager to learn how to ride it. We look forward to teaching her!

Merry Christmas 2010

Our little Christmas girl

Well, we got Elise all dressed up for our second family Christmas photo and had fun chasing her around and attempting to pose according to her guidelines. She protested wearing her dress, long socks and pigtails and rarely stood still for more than a few seconds, but we somehow managed to get a few really cute photos. Attempting to take posed photos of a toddler is an entirely new challenge from that of a baby. With a baby, you just have to catch them looking in the generally direction of the camera, whereas a toddler you just have to catch them period. All in all, we had a fun time trying to get that one perfect family shot, which instead turned out to be the perfect photo of little Elise. I must say, when did our little baby become such a big girl!?!

Getting in the Holiday Spirit

Daddy and Elise by the giant tree

Mommy and baby

Cute little munchkin

We took little Elise to the mall last week to see the giant Christmas tree and to meet Santa for the very first time. The scenario would be best described as awkward. She had no idea why we were pushing her toward a stranger and was rather suspicious of this new Santa character. He gave her a candy cane, which helped ease her worries for a bit, but once she was placed on his lap, she immediately started calling for us to come to her rescue. Out of seven shots, the photo below was the one that Elise looked the least concerned in! It's a funny photo and I'm sure one day she will question why on earth she wasn't smiling in the presence of Santa.
