October Festivities 2012

The girls field trip to The Pumpkin Farm in Citrus Heights

Cute little Alina guarding our pumpkins

Alina was only 2-1/2-months-old last October, so this was
her first real pumpkin patch experience; she loved it!

Alina feed the goats, cuddled nana, and traversed the corn maze
Elise made friends with this sweet little pony

More pumpkin patch fun, haunted house and slides!!

October is a very busy time of year for our family. We have three major family birthdays, celebrating three special October babies - mommy, nana and Cousin Jacob, not to mention numerous close friends and their kids. To top that all off it's Halloween time, so if it isn't a birthday it's a weekend filled with plenty of fall festivities. We have already been to the pumpkin patch twice this year. The photos here are from the girls school field trip to the Pumpkin Farm in Citrus Heights, and all of us October babies together at Cousin Jacob's 2nd birthday party. There are plenty more fall photos to come. Despite being on-the-go 24/7, October is still my most favorite time of year. I love experiencing the girls excitement whether we're at the pumpkin patch, a birthday party, trying on their Halloween costumes, partaking in fun fall arts and craft projects, reading Halloween books together (because that's all cute little Elise wants to read this time of year), or just playing at home on weekday after work/school. Happy October fun and festivities to all!

Nana and Elise sporting their
festive Halloween shirts - love this!

Halloween Lovers Unite!

The girls sharing a hug after decorating for Halloween

Little Halloween lovers! Alina with her favorite killer
clown baby doll and Elise holding Mr. Severed Head

Halloween tree ornaments; skulls, owls, cats, pumpkins,
bats, spiders, and centipedes, oh my!

Elise picked out this Living Dead Doll,
Calico, to keep Halloween watch over the house :)

Halloween Ghouls - Mummy, Living Dead Dolls,
Medusa and Bones

My favorite time of year is upon us yet again; Halloween time. I must say that we have two huge Halloween lovers on our hands. Both the girls loved helping decorate for Halloween, and neither of them are spooked by all the ghosts, ghouls, skulls, bats, bugs, spiders, severed heads, dead dolls, etc; they embrace it all. In fact, we added two new spooks this year, Medusa and maniacal clown baby. Alina loves the clown baby, she chooses it over her sweet baby dolls. I think it most likely has to do with the fact that it shakes, giggles and laughs hysterically when you press its belly. She has no idea that it looks demented, she cuddles and hugs it just like the other babies :) haha...can we say future Halloween lover!

I've also had a bit of fun devising some creative Halloween treats for the girls (with a little inspiration from Pinterest, of course). Ghost bananas and kiwi Frankensteins were a few of the girls' favorites. I tried to keep the treats as healthy as possibly, considering that the girls will be getting enough of a candy fix come Halloween. We also have been setting aside a half hour a night for Halloween coloring and art projects. Elise's favorite has been decorating foam pumpkins with stickers. She likes to make one each night. It's so fun that she is now at the age to really enjoy craft projects! We're looking forward to a month full of Halloween fun and festivities.
